What’s a web3 sector that took too long or hasn’t lived up to the hype? Enough so that you got disillusioned and moved on? For me it’s tokenized real world assets. For others, it’s self sovereign identity, DAO coordination, merchant payments, governance, scalability, etc

Vitalik and Balaji having discussions here instead of twitter seems like a fantastic leading indicator. The winning town square is just the place where the most interesting people go to debate each other.

I generally agree with your clarifications here, but I think the dietary example is not helpful. No one actually wants to design their whole life around keto. A society of keto maxis would be miserable, even for other keto people! It's an absurd enough example to undermine the point you're trying to make.

At Cabin, we've generally agreed that "One Commandment" is one of the practically worst (yet still directionally useful) parts of Balaji's Network State framework. We prefer Three Suggestions—Conserve, Colive, Create—but even these aren't written in stone or definitive representations of our community.

Excited to read this. I'm also interested in better understanding frameworks for positive value creation along the spectrum of semi-public (technically club) goods.
